Psychedelic education and harm reduction for youth, families, and communities
My mission is to help youth, families, educators, and communities navigate the evolving landscape of psychedelics through honest, evidence-informed education that reduces harm, empowers informed decision-making, and encourages open, thoughtful conversations.
This page is dedicated to the work I’m doing in my home community of Vashon Island through VARSA (Vashon Alliance to Reduce Substance Abuse), a local nonprofit committed to empowering teens, supporting families, and educating our community to prevent and reduce underage substance use.
Through this work, I hope to create space for curiosity, meaningful conversations, and a better understanding of psychedelics - grounded in science, compassion, and harm reduction.
To the left, you’ll see our five goals for this school year. We’ll kick off the project with a fall survey (pending approval) of high school students to better understand what they already know, what they’re curious about, and where they need more information about psychedelics.
The survey results will help guide our educational content and community discussions, allowing us to focus our resources where they can best meet the needs of students and the broader community.
In the spring, we’ll host a community presentation to help bring conversations about psychedelics into the open. We’ll also conduct a follow-up student survey to measure changes in knowledge and understanding, evaluate the effectiveness of our educational efforts, and identify areas where more support or resources may be needed.
We’ll also launch a dedicated resource page on the VARSA website featuring the resources below, harm reduction information, and new educational materials developed in response to what we learn from students.
